Moving Tips

Here is a checklist to help guide you through your moving process. 

2 Weeks Prior 

• Order moving boxes and packing supplies 

• Sort, discard, and donate (don’t forget the tax receipt!) unwanted items 

• Notify doctors, dentists, and other health service providers of change of address 

• Confirm elevator, loading dock, and parking reservation/parking permits for moving day at both current and destination addresses

1 Week Prior 

• Pack fragile and loose items from drawers into moving boxes 

• Confirm your moving day and time with your moving company 

• Remove all permanently affixed items that you wish to take from walls and ceilings 

• Alert friends and family to new address 

Before Moving Day 

• Notify mover of any special-care items prior to the big move! 

• Defrost, drain, and wash refrigerators and freezers 

• Drain gas and oil from any lawnmowers, generators, etc. 

• Clear walkways and driveways to accommodate for inclement weather
